CM Promotes Natural Farming During Panchayat Meet

A delegation from the Bada and Faste Gram Panchayats of the Nadaun Assembly constituency called on CM Sukhu here today.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister discussed ongoing and proposed development works in the Nadaun Assembly constituency and sought feedback from the delegation. He informed that the foundation stone of the proposed Spice Park in Bada Gram Panchayat would be laid shortly, which is expected to boost local agriculture and livelihoods.

The Chief Minister encouraged the delegation to adopt and promote natural farming practices, highlighting the immense potential of the Nadaun region for turmeric cultivation through natural methods.

He said that the State Government has fixed a purchase price of Rs. 60 per kilogram for wheat produced through natural farming. He further informed that the Pangi sub-division was declared a completely natural farming sub-division on 15 April 2025. To further support farmers, the government is also providing a support price of Rs. 90 per kilogram for raw turmeric and Rs. 60 per kilogram for barley grown in the Pangi valley.

Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to announce a minimum support price for crops grown through natural farming, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to sustainable agriculture.

The Chief Minister also urged the delegation members to spread awareness about various public welfare schemes of the State Government so that maximum people could avail their benefits.
