CM Sukhu attended a special screening of the short film “The Last Drop” at his official residence, Oak Over, on Thursday evening. The 25-minute film, starring Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) fame Arunoday Sharma and directed by Dr. Paras Prakash, tackles the urgent global issue of melting glaciers and climate change. It is set to premiere on August 1 during The Great Himalayan Water Festival in Shimla.
Praising the film, the Chief Minister commended the team for creatively raising awareness about environmental issues, particularly targeting the younger generation. He highlighted global warming as one of the most significant challenges of our time and stressed the need for unified, proactive efforts to mitigate its impact.
Acknowledging the visible effects of climate change in the state, Sukhu emphasized the government’s commitment to preparedness through the implementation of an Early Warning System (EWS). The system will improve real-time monitoring and forecasting capabilities to minimize disaster-related damage through timely alerts and early action.
The event was attended by Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Arunoday Sharma’s parents Jagdish Sharma and Mamta Paul, and members of the film’s production team.
