Shimla: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh on the eve of New Year 2026, expressing hope that the coming year would usher in happiness, renewed aspirations, and positive energy for all.

In his message, the Chief Minister said that the people of the State have stood shoulder to shoulder with the government in facing multiple challenges over the past year. Despite several natural disasters, he noted that the year proved to be one of development and achievements, with new benchmarks set in key sectors such as education, health, agriculture, and infrastructure through the State’s own resources.

CM Sukhu reiterated the State Government’s firm resolve to eradicate chitta (drug menace) and assured that the administration would continue to work steadfastly for the welfare of the people and safeguard the overall interests of Himachal Pradesh in the years ahead.

Highlighting initiatives to boost tourism, the Chief Minister said that innovative events such as the Kangra Valley Carnival, Shimla Winter Carnival, and Winter Fest in Dalhousie marked a new beginning in the State’s history on the occasion of the New Year. These initiatives significantly increased tourist footfall, with hotels in Shimla and Dharamshala witnessing full occupancy during the festive period.

Appealing to the people, CM Sukhu urged everyone to collectively resolve in the New Year to make Himachal Pradesh “clean, healthy, and self-reliant,” emphasizing that public participation remains the greatest strength of the government. He prayed to the Almighty for happiness, peace, and prosperity in the lives of all citizens in the New Year 2026.
