Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee by garlanding his statue at The Ridge, Shimla, on the occasion of his 100th birth anniversary. Speaking to media persons, the Chief Minister lauded Vajpayee’s immense contribution to the nation, describing him as an extraordinary statesman, an outstanding parliamentarian and a gifted poet.
He said that Late Sh. Vajpayee had a deep affection for Himachal Pradesh and its people. Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that he was going to participate in the two-day Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Karnataka. He said that he also plans to meet Union Ministers on 28th December, where he would discuss pressing issues concerning Himachal Pradesh, including declining GST compensation, Revenue deficit Grants (RDG) and the state’s loan limit.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that during the tenure of the present state government, the pace of development in Himachal Pradesh has significantly increased, with enhanced revenue generation supporting infrastructure and public welfare initiatives. Chief Minister’s Principal Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan, Mayor Surender Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
