Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu honoured the members of Indian Kabaddi teams, both men and women for winning Gold in the Asian Games, 2023 held at Hangzouh in China recently. In a function organised by the Himachal Pradesh Kabaddi Association at Peterhoff today, the Chief Minister lauded the players for their performance and bringing laurels for the State and for the country as well by clinching gold medal and exhibiting their strength and talent.
“Today the entire Nation is proud of your performance and the strong Indian squad which made a record haul of 107 medals, which shows the grit and determination of the Indian players,” said Sukhu Among the players honoured were Captain of the women’s squad of the Indian Kabaddi team Ritu Negi besides other members Nidhi Sharma, Pushpa Rana, Sushma Sharma and Vishal Bhardwaj a team member of the Indian men’s Kabaddi team, all from Himachal.
The women players from Himachal were surely a source of inspiration for other girls in the State. He said that the Government will soon organize a mega event to honour these players who have brought glory to the State. Our government mulls to bring reforms in the sports policy and to strengthen the sports infrastructure in the state, said he.
President Himachal Pradesh Kabaddi Association, Raj Kumar Nittu welcomed the Chief Minister and informed him about the activities of the association. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Anirudh Singh, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, Sanjay Awasthi, Mayor Municipal Corporation, Surinder Chauhan, Chairman State Cooperative Bank, Devendar Shyam, Secretary Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association, Rajesh Bhandari, and dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
