The International Kullu Dussehra 2026 reached its spectacular climax as Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu joined thousands of revelers for the final stretch of celebrations. Immersing himself directly into the valley’s rich traditions, the Chief Minister inaugurated—and enthusiastically joined in—the traditional Lalri folk dance at the Rath Ground before greeting the people of Himachal Pradesh.
The festival grounds illuminated the night sky with a cutting-edge laser and drone show, seamlessly pairing modern technology with timeless art. Global energy filled the arena as international troupes from nine countries—including Indonesia, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Malaysia, and the United States—performed alongside student artists from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. India’s own diverse heritage shared the spotlight, featuring everything from Kerala’s classical Kathakali and Manipur’s dynamic performers to regional ensembles from Punjab, Ladakh, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh. The cultural series culminated in an eclectic fusion showcase and a soul-stirring live performance by legendary Sufi singer Dr. Satinder Sartaaj.
Taking the stage for the official closing ceremony, CM Sukhu backed the festival’s cultural pride with substantial state commitments. To honor local traditions, he announced a 5% increase in honorarium for local deities, a 10% hike for Bajantris (traditional musicians), ₹1,100 for each chief Gur, and ₹35,000 for every participating Mahila Mandal.
Beyond cultural preserves, the Chief Minister unveiled a massive developmental package for the region. Key announcements included ₹10 crore combined for critical road links (including the Left Bank area and Manikaran Road), a ₹22-crore modern sewerage system and new electricity sub-division for Bhuntar, ₹1 crore for a new science block at Bajoura School, and a high-tech infrastructure overhaul for Kullu District Hospital. To reinforce the rural economy, he also promised an increased Minimum Support Price of ₹40/kg for ginger.
Recalling the resilience shown by Kullu’s residents during the devastating 2023 floods, CM Sukhu commended the community’s enduring spirit of service. The weeklong extravaganza concluded on a high note with the energetic Kullu Carnival—featuring over 600 artists and women—and top honors awarded to the Bhutti Vivraj Cultural Group in the local arts competition.
