The opening of the new Academic Block at Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur marks another major milestone in Himachal Pradesh’s medical transformation. Reflecting on the state’s progress, CM Sukhu highlighted that the strides made under the current administration represent the most significant healthcare improvements seen in the last 40 years.
The state’s strategy centers on modernizing both equipment and education. From setting up ₹30-crore automated labs to pioneering North India’s only medical college-led robotic surgery programs, Himachal is actively building a modern medical ecosystem. Future focus will center heavily on upgrading facilities at Hamirpur and Nerchowk, following earlier expansions at IGMC Shimla and RPGMC Tanda.
However, CM Sukhu stressed that state-of-the-art diagnostic machinery and robotic systems are only half the equation. Addressing the medical community, he urged physicians to pair advanced technology with empathy, calling for a sensitive, patient-first approach to healing across all state hospitals.
