The campus of Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur, buzzed with energy today as Sukhu took center stage to directly field questions from medical students. From monthly stipends and hosteller safety to Artificial Intelligence in medical education, the open dialogue highlighted a rapid shift toward modernizing medical training in Himachal Pradesh.
During the interactive session, MBBS student Pratibha and her peers got a glimpse into the physical transformation coming to their campus—a Japanese-designed master layout incorporating multi-story hostels, high-tech research centers, and specialized hospitals. Meanwhile, student Nishant learned that the dream of global exposure is now a reality: 20 top-performing medical students from each state college will soon head overseas to study international healthcare models.
CM Sukhu underscored that building a self-reliant state starts with empowering its youth. Beyond considering higher stipends for interns, the administration has more than doubled the state’s PG medical seats this year while making affordable 1% interest loans available to low- and middle-income families. Concluding his address, he reaffirmed that integrating cutting-edge technology, AI, and transparent merit-based hiring will pave the way for Himachal Pradesh’s next generation of medical leaders.
