On the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led the state in paying heartfelt tributes at Sadbhawana Chowk, Chhota Shimla. The event saw emotional moments as the CM garlanded the statue of the late leader and recalled his immense contributions to the nation.

Speaking to the media, CM Sukhu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling Rajiv Gandhi’s vision of inclusive growth, technological advancement, and women empowerment.


“Rajiv Gandhi laid down his life for national unity and integrity. His pioneering initiatives like the IT revolution and 33% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj have transformed India,” said the Chief Minister.

Highlighting the ongoing legacy, Sukhu mentioned two key initiatives:
- Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School Yojna – Modern, well-equipped schools being set up in every assembly constituency to uplift rural education standards.
- Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start-Up Yojna – A transformative scheme providing easy loans and a 50% subsidy on e-taxis for unemployed youth to boost self-employment.
