CM Unveils Major Relief Package for Boh Cloudburst Victims

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the cloudburst-hit Boh area in Shahpur constituency to review relief and rehabilitation measures and interact with affected families.

He announced ₹7.5 lakh for rebuilding fully damaged houses and an additional ₹1 lakh for essential household items. Families without land for reconstruction will be provided government land wherever required.

The Chief Minister also announced ₹55,000 for each cow or buffalo lost, ₹15,000 per goat, ₹1 lakh for flood-damaged houses, ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh for damaged shops, ₹5,000 per kanal for crop loss, ₹5,000 per month as rent assistance and six months of free ration for affected families. He also announced the upgradation of Ridkmar Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre.

The Chief Minister said the government is committed to the relief and permanent rehabilitation of affected families. He added that ₹3,500 crore will be invested in disaster-resilient infrastructure to reduce future losses. He also highlighted the revised disaster relief norms and the creation of a Special Disaster Relief Fund for faster assistance.

So far, 25 families have received interim relief of ₹25,000 each, while 16 families have been given ₹10,000 each. Revenue and bonafide certificates are being issued, and land is being identified for permanent rehabilitation. A total of 25 families from Ghurghun, Bhangar and Sapera villages were affected by the cloudburst, with 13 houses in Sapera declared unsafe.
