CM urges Piyush Goyal to Enhance Import Duty on Apple

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur called on Piyush Goyal Union Minister for Commerce and Industry at New Delhi today. Chief Minister urged the Union Minister about enhancing import duty on apple to benefit the apple growers of the state. He said that apples from other countries is coming into Indian market and affecting the apple economy of the state. He also requested for extending Industrial Development Subsidy Scheme as the scheme is closing during the current year. He also discussed about setting up of Pharma testing lab in Baddi in a speedy manner which would benefit local Pharma entrepreneurs for testing their products in the state itself.

Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh gave valuable inputs about state’s demands. Union Commerce Minister assured the Chief Minister of all possible help to the state. Earlier, Chief Minister also held a meeting with the Vice Chairman NITI Aayog Dr. Rajeev Kumar. Members of the Aayog, Distinguished Experts and senior officers were present in the meeting. Chief Minister held detailed discussions about its efforts to make Himachal a green state and sought cooperation of the Aayog to achieve the objective. Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh also spoke on occasion.
