CM Sukhu chaired a high-level meeting with World Bank officials to review the Himachal Pradesh Resilient Action for Development and Disaster Recovery (HP-READY) project, scheduled for launch in January 2026. The ₹2,687 crore initiative is aimed at rebuilding disaster-hit infrastructure and preparing the state for future climate-related challenges.
The Chief Minister noted that Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing increasingly severe impacts of climate change, including loss of life and damage to critical infrastructure. He said frequent natural disasters have forced the government to divert major resources toward emergency restoration efforts.
To address this, the HP-READY project, in partnership with the World Bank, will focus on restoring damaged infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings, improving early warning systems, and managing river channels. It will also emphasize building climate-resilient public services and supporting community livelihoods through initiatives like “Green Panchayats” and improved social safety nets.
CM Sukhu stressed the importance of protecting the interests of farmers and horticulturists by establishing Controlled Atmosphere (CA) stores at 10 locations across the state, enabling them to safely store produce and reduce financial losses during adverse conditions.
