Cabinet Ministers, Jagat Singh Negi and Rohit Thakur and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Ram Kumar Chaudhary, launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government led by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on the rise of prices of both the domestic and commercial LPG refills by Rs. 50 and Rs. 350 respectively,
thereby putting an extra burden on the pocket of the common man. Domestic gas cylinder was available for Rs. 410 in 2014 during the UPA regime, which will now be available for more than Rs. 1200 on home delivery, said the Ministers.
Commercial gas cylinders will now be available to shops and business establishments for around Rs. 2,300, which will increase the rates of food in local restaurants, dhaba and hotels. The Ministers and CPS said that the price of a 14.2 kg Domestic LPG increased from Rs. 744 in May 2020 to Rs. 1053 in July 2022.
In around these four years, the price of the regular domestic cylinder has increased by nearly 41.5 percent. Earlier this year the price of the LPG was increased by Rs. 25 in January on commercial cylinders which led to more inflation. “That’s a Navratri and Holi gift by Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi led BJP Government to the people of the country” said the Ministers and the CPS.
Just when the polling ended in three north eastern states, the LPG prices were pushed up. Since 2014 the prices of LPG has increased manifold, they said. It has become difficult for a common man to purchase the LPG as the inflation has sky-rocketed in the BJP government “When will this process of putting financial burden on the general public will stop.
Whether the Modi Government has anything to do with the problems faced by poor people due to rising prices” they questioned, adding that inflation has become unbridled after the BJP came to power at the Centre. Every time the central BJP leaders give the reason for increase in LPG due to rise in fuel prices, but it is astonishing that as of now the Aviation Turbine fuel (ATF) price was cut by 4 percent, and accordingly the jet fuel rates were reduced by Rs. 4606.50 per kilolitre, the Narendra Modi led BJP government is increasing the rates of LPG to benefit few big business houses who seem to be hand in glove with them.
“The women were the primary sufferers as they have been pushed back to smoky Chulhas in the rural belts of the State”, the Ministers alleged. The Central BJP Government has brought back an era of traditional stoves emitting toxic fumes as a gift to the women folk of the Country, this Holi. Blaming the BJP government siding with big business houses and benefitting them, the Ministers said that their deeds and tall promises were like more rhetoric rather than realistic. They asserted that the central government should stop this loot from the general public.(eom)
