Cottonians Challenge their Physical Limits

It’s supposed to be hard, if it wasn’t, everyone would do it, hard is what makes it great! Sums up an exciting and thrilling day spent at Bishop Cotton School Shimla here today, as they organized their Annual Obstacle Course Competition – a series of challenging physical obstacles an individual or team must navigate usually while being timed. Obstacle courses can include running, climbing, jumping, crawling, swimming and balancing elements with the aim of testing speed and endurance.

Bishop Cotton School shimlaIn the competition, the entire school participated and showcased their physical strength. The competition is held in two stages where children are given marks on individual performances, which is added to the score of each House and based on it a Team is selected to compete with each other, informed the School Sports Teacher, R.S. Dhaliwal.

Various obstacles included angular rope ladder, commando crawl, double ditch, wall climbing, horizontal rope, through tire, Burma Bridge and monkey crawl to name some. It is one of its kind physical activities that are carried out in the school especially in Shimla. Strength and valour of students knew no limitations. It was an amazing display of strength and team work that filled the environment with a vibrant energy. (CLICK TO SEE ALL VIDEOS)

Bishop Cotton School shimlaCol. Neeraj Mishra graced the occasion as Chief Guest and appreciated the students. He said that one should never give up in life as it is the hard work of an individual that can never be substituted by anything else in life. He advised students to stay true to their vision and mission in life as failure is never final and success is never ending. He also said that one cannot test courage cautiously so each one of them should be ready to anything and everything in life.

Speaking on the occasion, School Headmaster, Roy Christopher Robinson congratulated the students for their success and stressed on the need for children to continue working hard to stay fit. He suggested that children should keep their body healthy as with perseverance and endurance one can survive any storm. The limitations in life do not necessary limit you therefore one should never give up.

The Challenge Cup for the Year 2019 was shared by Curzon and Ibbetson Houses. Whereas Inter- House Obstacle Competition First Position was shared by Curzon and Ibbetson Houses, Third position was bagged by Rivaz and Lefroy House stood fourth.
