Creativity has no gender and it was very well proved by the students of Auckland House School for Boys, Shimla, as they organized their annual Art and Craft Exhibition, for classes Nursery to XII here today in the school premises. Kusum Sadret, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Shimla, graced the occasion as the chief guest who was warmly greeted by School Principal Micheal A John and Director Principal Auckland Girls Sunita John.
The students of classes Nursery to XII had portrayed their creative skills by making constructive use of different waste materials like plastic bottles, flower vase, empty match boxes and paper.
In the junior section various items such as photo frames, key rings, piggy banks, best out of waste, bottles, flower vases, hand puppets, masks, ice cream sticks, foot-mats using stones, hand monsters and quilling were displayed.
The senior classes showcased their artistic skill by making a variety of models and charts on various subjects and also briefed the visitors on the subjects. The working models of an electric circuit, solar and lunar eclipse, photosynthesis were the main attractions of the exhibition.
Ishan Malhotra acted as a live model who presented a drama piece from Lord Voldemort’s Last Stand, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, by J.K. Rowling. He was appreciated for his excellent performance.
The art and craft also consisted of Mayur paintings, nature paintings, sequin work painting, zari paintings, jal pari paintings, day and night paintings and the like. The other items displayed were glittery balls, letter and key holders, key rings, pipe and bead curtain strings, wooden craft, painted cushion covers and table cloths. The parents also supported and encouraged the children by taking out time as they closely examined various models and appreciated the hard work.
Kusum appreciated and applauded the hard work put in by the students and the staff members of the school. She said that it is very important that students are given wings to fly and use their energies in a positive manner by creating something that is appreciated by all. It is great that even parents encourage their sons and don’t divide or label it as a job for only a female.
