Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta on Wednesday chaired a workshop on Capacity Building and Technological Intervention in the Jal Shakti Department, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing clean and safe drinking water to every household in the state.
Addressing the workshop, the Chief Secretary directed the department to fast-track compliance with mandatory conditions under the Jal Jeevan Mission, as prescribed by the Government of India, to ensure timely achievement of implementation targets. He said funding-related issues under the scheme would be taken up with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
Highlighting the role of technology in effective governance, Gupta urged the department to strengthen its digital infrastructure and adopt a paperless, digital work culture for transparent and efficient public service delivery. He stressed the need for wider use of platforms such as e-Office and the integration of modern technologies to accelerate the execution of government policies.
The Chief Secretary also emphasized prompt grievance redressal and directed officials to ensure speedy disposal of complaints received through platforms like the CM Helpline.
Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, Dr. Abhishek Jain said that the department was actively promoting information technology and expanding the e-Office system across the state. He added that coordination with the Department of Digital Technologies and Governance would be strengthened for skill development, and regular workshops were being conducted to enhance digital proficiency among employees. He also informed that the process of filling vacant posts was underway to further strengthen the department.
During the workshop, pending contractor payments were reviewed, technical sessions on digital skills and e-Office systems were conducted, and presentations were made by various zonal officers.
