CSE Language Paper Exemption for 6 States

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Civil Services Examination (CSE) annually as per the rules notified by the Department of Personnel. According to CSE Rules-2025, Paper A on Indian Language is not compulsory for candidates from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

The government noted that CSE rules are dynamic and evolving, and continuous reforms and remedial measures are undertaken to ensure a level playing field for aspirants nationwide.

This information was provided by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, who also holds charge in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, in a written reply to the Lok Sabha today.
