Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Tuesday outlined India’s vision for the future of 6G technology, emphasizing that its development must rest on four key pillars—interoperability, common standards, innovation, and inclusive growth.

Addressing an international workshop on 6G standardisation at Vigyan Bhawan, the minister said India is committed to playing a significant role in shaping the global telecom ecosystem. He noted that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the Bharat 6G Alliance was launched in 2022 with a clear goal of contributing at least 10% to global 6G standards and patents.

The workshop, organised by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre, brought together global experts, industry leaders, policymakers and academicians to deliberate on emerging trends in 6G technologies. Key focus areas included artificial intelligence, spectrum planning, network architecture, security frameworks and next-generation applications.

Scindia stressed the need for global cooperation and standardisation through international bodies like International Telecommunication Union and 3rd Generation Partnership Project to ensure seamless connectivity and technological advancement. He highlighted that 6G should not only advance technology but also democratise opportunities by enabling wider participation, especially for developing nations.

Discussions during the workshop also highlighted India’s growing role in global standard-setting processes and the opportunities available for domestic researchers, startups and innovators to contribute to the evolving 6G ecosystem.

Reaffirming India’s commitment, the minister called for building a secure, resilient and inclusive 6G network that connects people, industries and economies, while driving sustainable development and innovation worldwide.
