Students of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh actively participated in a series of competitions aimed at spreading awareness against drug abuse, delivering a strong message advocating a drug-free society.

The programme, organised at the Dhauladhar Campus-I under the theme “Drug-Free Pledge: From Healthy India to Developed India,” was jointly conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS), Red Ribbon Club, and the Mental Health and Wellbeing Cell of the university.

To broaden outreach, poster-making and slogan-writing competitions were held across all three campuses—Sapt Sindhu Campus Dehra, Shahpur Campus, and Dhauladhar Campus-I. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, with around 150 participants from various campuses engaging in the campaign. At the Dhauladhar campuses alone, more than 50 students contributed actively.

Participants showcased their creativity and commitment to the cause through impactful posters and slogans highlighting the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of prevention. The entries were evaluated by a panel comprising Public Relations Officer Dr. Pooja Awasthi, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Narendra Pandey, and Dr. Kuldeep Kumar.

Winners of the competitions, securing first, second, and third positions, will be felicitated on April 23 during a special workshop on the same theme, where the Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries will honour their efforts.

The event was conducted under the guidance of NSS Coordinator Dr. Malkiat Singh, while NSS Programme Officer Dr. Vivek Sharma and Red Ribbon Club Coordinator Dr. Bharat Singh coordinated the activities.

A total of 53 NSS volunteers, along with other students, reaffirmed their commitment to a drug-free society through their creative expressions, reinforcing the campaign’s core message of awareness and prevention.
