In the elections of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Secretariat Third-Grade Employees Union, Arkhi resident Deepak Thakur has been elected president with an overwhelming majority. Out of 85 total votes, Thakur secured 69 votes, while his closest contender, Surinder Kumar, received 16 votes. Among the 12 postal votes and remaining votes cast at the polling station, all 12 postal votes and 57 votes from the polling station were in Thakur’s favor.
Notably, nearly 20 years ago, his late father also served as president of the same union, during whose tenure critical issues like cadre bifurcation were resolved.
After the victory, Deepak Thakur said, “This win is not just about a position but a victory of employee unity and trust. I will raise all employee-related issues with the administration seriously and firmly.”
According to the election results, several other office-bearers were elected unopposed, including Vice President Harshit Sharma, General Secretary Pawan Kanthwal, Finance Secretary-cum-Treasurer Raj Kumar, Joint Secretary Shashi Pal, Advisor Meena, Senior Member Raksha, and Executive Committee members Shefali Sharma, Rinku Kashyap, and Chaman Raj.
The newly elected president expressed gratitude to all employees and officials and also thanked his opponent Surinder Kumar. He promised to strengthen the union as an effective and inclusive platform, working with honesty, dedication, and commitment for every employee.
