Dharmendra Pradhan

The Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, presided over the 58th Meeting of the General Council of NCERT as the President. During the meeting, he released the NCERT textbooks for classes 1-2. These textbooks have been developed in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-FS) 2022. The release of these new generation textbooks marks an important milestone in enhancing the quality of education at the foundational stage.

Focus on Quality Education and Teacher Training

In his address to the gathering, the Honorable Minister emphasized the significance of teacher training in achieving quality education. He stressed the need to prioritize the training of teachers at the foundational stage to equip them with the necessary skills to effectively implement the curriculum in schools. The Minister also highlighted the importance of providing support and guidance to District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) to ensure the realization of educational goals.

Importance of Developing Books in Multiple Indian Languages

Acknowledging the linguistic diversity of India, the Union Minister expressed the need to develop textbooks in multiple Indian languages. By offering educational resources in various regional languages, the government aims to cater to the diverse linguistic backgrounds of students across the country. This initiative will facilitate better comprehension and learning outcomes for students, enabling them to engage with the curriculum effectively.

Dignitaries Present at the Event

The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Annpurna Devi, the Minister of State for Education from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Additionally, education officials such as Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) under the Ministry of Education, Prof. M Jagadeesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), Prof. J S Rajput, Former Director of NCERT, Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani, Director of NCERT, Prof. Sridhar Srivastav, Joint Director of NCERT, Prof. Pratyush Kumar Mandal, Secretary of NCERT, and representatives from various states/Union Territories, Ministry of Education, NCERT, and CBSE were also present at the event.
