A review meeting on the availability of petroleum products was held under the chairmanship of the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, where it was informed that the Government of India will soon release 20 percent additional commercial LPG cylinders in line with the existing cost structure. Adequate stocks of kerosene are also available to ensure that commercial consumers do not face any fuel shortage.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta said that the gas booking system on the servers of Indian Oil Corporation Limited will start functioning from tonight. He appealed to the public to book their gas cylinders only once to avoid unnecessary load on the server. He added that arrangements are being made to supply kerosene to families across the state, with two to three dealers to be appointed in each district under the new system.
The Chief Secretary further informed that special teams have been constituted in every district to curb black marketing and hoarding of petroleum products. These teams will take action either on their own or based on complaints received from the public. Citizens have been urged to report any such incidents through the department’s toll-free numbers 1967 and 1100.
Reassuring the public, he emphasized that there is no disruption in the supply of domestic LPG, and its distribution is continuing smoothly throughout the state.
