Sunrock Play School, Guma (Kotkhai) celebrated the festival of Dussehra with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour. The event witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and staff members, making it a memorable occasion for the school community.
As part of the celebration, effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran, and Meghnath were ceremoniously burnt, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. The young children, dressed in vibrant costumes, enthusiastically portrayed mythological characters such as Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita, Hanuman, and Ravana, captivating the audience with their charming performances.
School Principal Shailja Amreik extended warm greetings to all on the occasion of Dussehra. She took the opportunity to educate the students about the historical and moral significance of the festival. Highlighting that Dussehra marks the victory of Lord Ram over Ravana, she emphasized the festival’s message – truth triumphs over falsehood, and that we must strive to eliminate the ten vices: lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, jealousy, ego, laziness, violence, and lust, anger, greed, attachment, pride, jealousy, ego, laziness, violence,and theft.
She also elaborated on the cultural importance of the festival, noting that Dussehra is celebrated nationwide with the burning of Ravana’s effigies, symbolizing a collective stand against evil. Events like Ramleela and Dussehra processions serve not only as entertainment but as enduring lessons in righteousness and duty.
Highlighting local traditions, she noted that Kullu Dussehra in Himachal Pradesh holds a special cultural significance and is celebrated uniquely in the region.
The celebration at Sunrock Play School also included joyful cultural performances by the children, who showcased their talent and spirit through songs, dances, and dramatized storytelling. The event provided a platform for cultural learning, confidence building, and value education in a festive environment.
Principal Shailja Amreik reiterated the school’s commitment to holistic development and quality education for children in the region. She stated that Sunrock Play School regularly organizes such events to connect children with their cultural roots and instill moral values from an early age.
She also informed that Nursery, KG, and Crèche facilities are available at the school and that the admission process for the 2025–26 session is currently underway.
