Minister for Technical Education, Rajesh Dharmani, highlighted the critical role of the youth in building a self-reliant Himachal Pradesh through innovation and entrepreneurship. He was addressing a review meeting on technical education held in Shimla today.
The Minister noted that the youth of the state possess immense talent, energy, and innovative ideas. To harness this potential, the government plans to launch a range of entrepreneurship-focused programs in partnership with the Industries Department and HIMUDA. These initiatives, to be implemented across technical institutions, will help students develop leadership qualities and convert their ideas into successful ventures with guidance from industry mentors.
Dharmani also pointed to the rising demand in sectors such as beauty, wellness, and fashion. He mentioned that partnerships with national-level brands are helping upskill students and attract them to these high-growth industries. To ensure relevance, the curriculum is being revamped to align with current industry standards and job market needs.
Recognizing Himachal’s vulnerability to natural calamities, the Minister stressed the inclusion of practical disaster management training in Industrial Training Institutes, multi-technical institutes, and engineering colleges to prepare students for emergency situations.
Further, in tune with the digital transformation, the Minister announced plans to establish a Skill Academy and a Digital University aimed at equipping the youth with advanced technical and digital competencies.
