Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order), Shimla, Pankaj Sharma has issued a stern warning ahead of the Diwali festival, stating that the sale of firecrackers without a valid license is strictly prohibited. He emphasized that any unauthorized sale, storage, or distribution of firecrackers will attract strict legal action under the Explosives Act, 1884, and associated rules of 2008.
ADM Sharma noted that the district administration has received inputs about some individuals or shopkeepers planning to engage in illegal sale of firecrackers without securing proper licenses.
He clarified that strict penal action, including seizure of stock and registration of criminal cases, will be taken against any violators. Licensed sellers must adhere to all license conditions, and the public is advised to buy firecrackers only from authorized vendors operating in designated areas.
He further appealed to citizens to cooperate in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and environmentally responsible Diwali 2025, avoiding any incidents that could disrupt the festive spirit.
