A group of cadets from Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, called on Governor Kavinder Gupta at Lok Bhavan in Shimla on Tuesday, engaging in an insightful interaction focused on leadership, patriotism and national service.

The delegation, led by Naval Officer Sneha and accompanied by faculty members Aruna Sharma and Nitin Vaishnav, introduced themselves and shared their ambitions of joining the National Defence Academy and serving in the armed forces, particularly the Indian Navy. Welcoming the cadets, the Governor praised RIMC for its consistent contribution in grooming disciplined and committed youth for the defence services. He highlighted the institution’s role in shaping future officers dedicated to the nation.

Addressing the cadets, Gupta stressed that discipline, integrity and strong character form the foundation of true success. He remarked that “character must be built before rank is earned” and encouraged them to aim high, avoid mediocrity and treat challenges as stepping stones for growth.

Emphasizing unity in diversity, he quoted, “Alag Bhasha, Alag Bhesh, Phir Bhi Apna Ek Desh,” urging cadets to take pride in India’s cultural richness. He also advised incorporating the Gayatri Mantra into daily routine for mental clarity and inner strength.

On leadership, he noted that true leaders lead by example and place service above authority. He further encouraged cadets to stay intellectually curious and adaptable to the demands of a rapidly changing world, reminding them of their responsibility as future leaders of the nation.

Highlighting the vital role of the armed forces, the Governor said the country’s security rests on their dedication and urged cadets to live up to that trust. The cadets also toured Lok Bhavan during their visit, gaining insights into its historical significance and the functioning of constitutional institutions in the state.
