Ashish Wattal, Google India Head, met Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu at his official residence, Oak Over, to discuss collaborations on Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives for transforming public services in Himachal Pradesh. Discussions focused on integrating advanced technology in digital agriculture, healthcare, education, and public grievance redressal to enhance service delivery and improve citizens’ lives.
The Chief Minister emphasized the State Government’s commitment to utilizing AI and modern technology for public welfare. He urged Google to invest in the state’s Information Technology (IT) sector, highlighting Himachal Pradesh’s investor-friendly environment.
Key Initiatives Proposed:
- People Empowerment Platform:
The state plans to partner with Google to develop a platform through the Labour and Employment Department. This platform aims to connect citizens with skilled workers like plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, ensuring convenience while generating employment in the unorganized sector. - Mukhyamantri Seva Sankalp Helpline Upgrade:
The helpline (1100) will be enhanced with generative AI to provide quicker and more effective grievance redressal, improving consumer satisfaction. - AI in Education:
AI-based teaching modules will be piloted in two Government Senior Secondary Schools to modernize teaching methods and improve learning outcomes. - Agriculture and Disaster Preparedness:
Advanced technology for accurate weather forecasting will aid in disaster planning, minimizing loss of life and property.
MLA Chander Shekhar, Principal Advisor (Media) Naresh Chauhan, Secretary (Education) Rakesh Kanwar, and senior Google representatives Kshitij Uppal and Rajeev Gupta also attended the meeting. These initiatives signify a significant step towards a technologically empowered Himachal Pradesh, focusing on innovation and public welfare.
