Government Suspends Dharamshala College Assistant Professor Pending Inquiry

The State Government has ordered the immediate suspension of Ashok Kumar, Assistant Professor (Geography) at Government College Dharamshala, pending the outcome of a departmental inquiry.

According to an official spokesperson, the suspension has been ordered following the registration of an FIR against the assistant professor in connection with the unfortunate death of a girl student of the same college. The FIR has been lodged under Sections 75, 115(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Himachal Pradesh Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 2009. An FIR has also been registered against three girl students in the same case.

As per the suspension order, during the suspension period, Ashok Kumar’s headquarters will remain at the Directorate of Higher Education, Shimla. He has been directed not to leave the headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority. The government stated that further action would be taken based on the outcome of the departmental inquiry and ongoing legal proceedings.
