Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today attended the annual prize distribution ceremony of Divine Wisdom School Majra at Paonta Sahib in Sirmaur district as the chief guest. He said that we should provide opportunities to our children to move ahead in life, keeping in mind their abilities and interests. He said that we should not put unnecessary pressure on children.
Referring to the Pran Pratishtha program held in Ayodhya on January 22, the Governor said that to witness these historical moments, this festival was organized not only in India but in many countries of the world. He said that today the school children have brought the same scene alive with their captivating presentation. He said, the school which lags behind in character building gradually loses its identity. Shukla said that recently Padma Awards were also given to those people who are doing the best work to protect trees and serve the people.
He expressed concern over excessive use of television and mobile phones among children and urged parents to spend more time with their children. He said that we should not lose our children in the race of competition. He said that jobs are limited and competition is high, hence there is a need to think about how we can become job givers and not job seekers. The Governor said that Himachal is known as Devbhoomi and the drug trade going on in Devbhoomi is a matter of concern. He said that police administration alone cannot end drug addiction, for this we all need to be aware. On this occasion, the Governor also gave awards to the meritorious students of the school.
Divine Wisdom School Chairman Neeraj Goyal welcomed the Governor. Meenakshi Malhotra, Principal of Divine Wisdom School, presented the annual report of the school. On this occasion, a colorful cultural program was also presented by the students of the school. Pawanta Sahib MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary, former Speaker of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Rajeev Bindal, Him Utkarsh District Sirmaur President R.K. Tiwari, Lala Atma Ram Memorial Society Divine Wisdom School President Vijesh Goyal, Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion. Before this, the Governor also listened to the Prime Minister’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program.
