Governor Kavinder Gupta emphasized the timeless importance of social harmony, national unity, and mutual respect while addressing the 2nd Sikh Intellectual Conclave 2026. Organized by the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Trust (BBSBMT) at Abhinav Theatre in Jammu, the event brought together intellectuals, community leaders, and dignitaries to discuss heritage, values, and nation-building. During the ceremony, the Governor also honored several prominent intellectuals for their exceptional contributions to societal development.
Recalling the historic legacy of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, the Governor noted that his life stood as an epitome of courage, sacrifice, and the defense of human dignity. Guided by the ideals of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur fought relentlessly against injustice and championed the rights of the marginalized. He highlighted that the core principles taught by the Sikh Gurus—including Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of universal brotherhood and the supreme sacrifices made by the four Sahibzadas—continue to guide society toward compassion and the welfare of all through the ethos of Sarbat da Bhala.
The Governor further acknowledged the central government’s initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to honor Sikh heritage, pointing to the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and the annual observance of Veer Bal Diwas. Stressing the rich pluralistic fabric of Jammu and Kashmir, Governor Gupta urged citizens to draw inspiration from these teachings, foster youth empowerment, and work collectively toward a peaceful, inclusive, and progressive society. Earlier in the program, Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji lauded the conclave as a vital platform for preserving Sikh philosophy and encouraging meaningful dialogue on contemporary social issues.
