Governor Calls for United Effort Against Drug Abuse at Red Cross Fair in Solan

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla emphasized the importance of collective action to combat drug abuse, particularly urging women and girls to play an active role in the fight. He made these remarks at the inaugural function of the district-level Red Cross fair organized by the District Red Cross Society at Nalagarh in Solan.

Governor Highlights Red Cross’s Role in Eradicating Social Evils

During his address, the Governor praised the Red Cross for its humanitarian work and highlighted the organization’s role in addressing social evils, including drug abuse. He encouraged people to join the Red Cross to support its various initiatives aimed at helping the underprivileged and enhancing social welfare.

Red Cross Fairs: A Symbol of Compassion and Service

Shukla lauded the spirit of compassion, unity, and service that the Red Cross fairs represent, stressing that the symbol of the Red Cross serves as a beacon of hope for those in need. He acknowledged the significant contributions of the Red Cross in providing free medicines and medical aid during disasters.

Governor Inaugurates Blood Bank Unit and Red Cross Initiatives

The Governor also inaugurated a new Blood Bank Component Separation Unit in Balavanh, built at a cost of approximately Rs. 2 crore through the initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society, Himachal Pradesh, and Kinvan Private Limited’s CSR efforts. Additionally, the Governor visited the exhibition and various stalls set up by different organizations, including a blood donation camp.

Launches Campaign to Combat Drug Abuse in Himachal

Governor Shukla launched a state-wide campaign against drug abuse, particularly focused on engaging Panchayati Raj Institutions and women in the fight. He expressed concern over the rapid rise of drug-related issues in Himachal Pradesh, noting that the solution must start at the household level.

Governor Flags Off Anti-Drugs Rally and Encourages Women’s Involvement

The Governor flagged off an anti-drugs rally and called for the active participation of women in the Jan Jagran Abhiyan for de-addiction. He stated that efforts to make Himachal Pradesh drug-free would be supported by the collective action of all citizens, especially women.

Governor Honors Donors and Releases “Kainth ke Ped”

On the occasion, the Governor released the book “Kainth ke Ped,” authored by Rajot Singh, and honored key donors, including Manoj Aggarwal, Shashi Kaushal, Surender Sharma, and Chaudhary Harbhajan Singh for their contributions.

Solan District Red Cross Fair Brings Awareness and Support

The district-level Red Cross fair also served as an important platform for raising awareness about social issues and encouraging community participation. The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including the MLA from Nalagarh, Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma, and officials from the Red Cross Society.

Key Figures Attend Event to Support Drug-Free Campaign

Among those present at the event were Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, Chairperson of the Nagar Parishad Nalagarh Vandana Bansal, former MLA K.L. Thakur, and senior district officials, as well as students, industrialists, and other prominent members of the community.
