Governor Commends Renuka Ji Lake Aarti Tradition

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over the concluding ceremony of the International  Renuka Ji Fair held at Renuka Ji in Sirmaur district today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor praised the initiative of organizing the daily Aarti at Devghat on the sacred Renuka Ji Lake, describing it as a commendable effort to preserve the State’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage. He said, “The devotion with which people visit this holy place is deeply inspiring. May Lord Parshuram continue to bless this unwavering faith.”

The Governor appreciated the district administration and the Renuka Ji Development Board for introducing this new tradition and urged local ashram residents to continue performing the Aarti regularly. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and acknowledged the significant contribution of the people of Sirmaur in the defence of the nation.

Describing the fair as a confluence of faith and devotion, the Governor said it holds a special place in the hearts of devotees across the country. He called for collective efforts by government and society to enhance the beauty and sanctity of Renuka Ji Lake. Urging the youth to stay away from drugs, he said, “Let us pledge to keep our villages safe and free from the menace of drugs.”

Highlighting the importance of culture as the greatest heritage, the Governor stated that the Renuka Ji Fair symbolizes the devotion of Lord Parshuram Ji towards his mother, Goddess Renuka Ji, and upholds the eternal values of Indian society. He added that Renuka Ji is among the most beautiful pilgrimage sites in Himachal Pradesh, attracting devotees with great enthusiasm every year.

Governor Shukla commended fairs and festivals for their role in preserving India’s cultural identity, stressing that as society progresses, it must remain rooted in moral and traditional values. He congratulated all involved in the successful organization of the fair and extended blessings to the devotees.

On the occasion, the Governor performed pooja at the temples of Lord Parshuram Ji and Mata Renuka Ji and participated in the traditional Dev Vidai procession. He also visited various exhibition stalls set up by government departments, self-help groups, and NGOs, encouraging participants to continue promoting self-reliance and women empowerment.

Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, Chairman of the Renuka Ji Development Board, welcomed and honoured the Governor. He shared that this year, the Renuka Ji Fair was celebrated as a Green Fair, emphasizing environmental conservation. Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Verma proposed the vote of thanks.

Also present on the occasion were Member of Parliament Suresh Kashyap, Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, Superintendent of Police Nishchint Negi, office bearers of the Development Board, senior officers, and a large gathering of devotees.

A colourful cultural programme was presented during the ceremony. The Industry Department won the first prize for best exhibition, followed by the in second place and the Agriculture Department in third.
