In a spirited push toward a drug-free Himachal, Governor Shukla today flagged off the 12th Half Marathon from the historic Ridge Maidan in Shimla. Organized by the Himachal Pradesh Police, the event carried the strong social message: Together We Defeat Drugs.

Despite persistent rains, the marathon saw overwhelming participation from across age groups, including children, senior citizens, and differently-abled individuals. The Governor praised this collective enthusiasm as a powerful display of unity in the fight against drug abuse.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Shukla emphasized the need for continued awareness and community engagement. “Our determination to rid Himachal of drugs will not waver. This movement must reach every household,” he said, urging people from all walks of life to actively support the anti-drug campaign.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to preserving the cultural sanctity of Devbhoomi Himachal and administered an oath to participants to refrain from intoxicants. He also inaugurated an exhibition by the State Police and expressed solidarity with the cause by signing a symbolic ‘Signature Board.’

The marathon featured four categories: the Half Marathon, Mini Marathon, Dream Run, and a special run for differently-abled participants. A cash prize of ₹51,000 awaits the winner of the Half Marathon.

Prominent dignitaries, including Director General of Police Ashok Tiwari, Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, and Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, attended the event, lending their support to the ongoing anti-drug mission.
