Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today flagged off the vehicles carrying relief material from Raj Bhavan to district Kullu comprising hygiene kits, tarpaulin, kitchen sets, blankets etc.
On the occasion, the Governor said that in view of the damage caused by heavy rains last year, adequate measures were being taken in advance through the State Red Cross Society, so that people could be provided immediate relief in any such situation.
He said that during the last one year, the State Red Cross has provided about 3438 hygiene kits, 1189 blankets, 2057 tarpaulins, 2085 kitchen sets, 36 family tents etc as relief to the needy and the affected in various districts. He said that as a precautionary measure, the first consignment of relief material was being sent to Kullu district and similarly it would be followed for other districts as well.
The Governor appealed to the people of the State to remain vigilant at their own level during this rainy season and urged the tourists not to venture too close to the rivers and rivulets. He said that tourists visiting tribal areas must especially inform the district administration about their visit. Secretary to the Governor, C.P. Verma was also present on the occasion.
