Governor Shukla attended the valedictory ceremony of “Eruption–2025,” the inter-college cultural fest hosted by Government Dental College and Hospital, Shimla, at IGMC. Praising the vibrant event, the Governor lauded the fusion of education and culture, calling such festivals a dynamic platform to nurture talent and creativity among youth.
Impressed by the cultural performances, Governor Shukla commended the students for reflecting the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, and announced a contribution of ₹2 lakh from his discretionary fund to support their artistic endeavors. He noted that events like Eruption go beyond academics, offering students an opportunity to build confidence, leadership, and a sense of community.
Highlighting his ongoing anti-drug campaign, the Governor urged students to remain alert and united against the threat of drug abuse, emphasizing the need to protect Himachal’s reputation for honesty and simplicity. He appreciated the role of ‘Medivision’, the IGMC doctors’ association, in supporting this mission.
Stressing the importance of oral health, Governor Shukla said that dental professionals bring real smiles to people’s lives and acknowledged the college’s contribution in producing skilled and compassionate dentists since its establishment in 1994. He encouraged students to embrace their profession as a blend of service, empathy, and technological advancement.
The Governor also felicitated the winners of various competitions during the fest. Earlier, Principal Dr. Ashu Gupta provided an overview of the college’s initiatives, while SCA President Dr. Muskaan and General Secretary Dr. Vaidehi Sharma shared event highlights and extended gratitude to all involved. The ceremony was attended by IGMC Principal Dr. Seeta Thakur, faculty members, department heads, and other dignitaries.
