Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla paid a heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary today at the historic Ridge in Shimla. The solemn occasion saw dignitaries and citizens come together to honour the legacy of one of India’s most respected leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor remembered Atal Ji as a visionary statesman and a towering figure in Indian politics, who upheld the highest moral and ethical standards throughout his political career. He recalled Vajpayee Ji’s deep affection for Himachal Pradesh, which he considered his second home. “He never compromised on integrity, neither for power nor for saving his government. The best tribute we can offer him today is to walk on the path of value-based politics and public service that he showed us,” the Governor remarked.

Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri also joined in paying floral tribute to the late leader. The event included performances of patriotic songs and devotional bhajans, creating an atmosphere of reverence and national pride.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Surinder Chauhan, former MP Pratibha Singh, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, former Minister Suresh Bhardwaj, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap, along with local councilors, officers, and prominent citizens of Shimla.

The gathering served as a reflection of Vajpayee Ji’s enduring influence across political lines and his unmatched contribution to the nation’s political and moral fabric.
