Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday released two books, “Crimson Snow” by young author Revaa and “Her Hills, Their Dreams – Shimla: A Biography in Stone and Greens” by Shalini Sharma, at a function held at Lok Bhavan.
Lauding the authors for their meaningful literary contributions, the Governor said that both works celebrate heritage, courage and a deep sense of belonging. He noted that while “Crimson Snow” chronicles the sacrifices made by freedom fighters from Himachal Pradesh, “Her Hills, Their Dreams” brings the city of Shimla alive through history, myths and memories, weaving together its past and present in a lyrical narrative.
Revaa, a student of Pinegrove School, has authored her second book titled “Crimson Snow: Himachal’s Sacrifice for Independence”, which highlights 20 lesser-known stories of men and women from the state who played pivotal roles in India’s freedom struggle and in the shaping of modern Himachal Pradesh. Appreciating her effort, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla encouraged the young author to continue her literary journey with the same passion and dedication.
Shalini Sharma, a lawyer and noted book critic, said her book personifies Shimla as a living entity, capturing its colonial origins, cultural richness, stories of love and loss, and the challenges of contemporary times. Congratulating both mother and daughter, the Governor said such literary works inspire readers to connect with history, values and the spirit of the land.
