Governor Shukla today chaired the closing ceremony of the ‘Viksit Bharat Youth Leadership Dialogue and Drug-Free India Campaign’ at Sardar Patel University, Mandi, highlighting the pivotal role of youth in shaping India’s future.

The Governor emphasized that the energy, creativity, and curiosity of young people would be the driving force behind making India a developed nation by 2047. “The youth are crucial in turning the nation’s dreams into reality. Education is not just a path to a career but a tool for social change, innovation, and service to the nation,” he said, urging students to cultivate leadership skills along with discipline.

Highlighting India’s rapid growth, Governor Shukla noted that the country is currently the world’s fourth-largest economy and is expected to surpass Germany to become the third-largest next year. He attributed the progress in start-ups, digital transformation, space research, and infrastructure development to the contributions of youth.

On the issue of drug abuse, the Governor warned of the dangers posed by synthetic drugs, calling for a collective societal effort to protect the younger generation. He stressed a zero-tolerance policy, urging youth to engage in positive activities such as sports, yoga, music, and art, while steering clear of harmful substances. Governor Shukla also lauded the State Government’s initiatives and highlighted the ongoing Drug-Free Himachal campaign, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which now extends to the panchayat level.

The Governor inaugurated a blood donation camp, visited a painting exhibition, and released a book celebrating Sardar Patel’s inspirational journey. He also honored winners of competitions in story writing, speech, painting, and poetry organized under the Viksit Bharat and Drug-Free India campaign.

Sardar Patel University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Lalit Kumar Awasthi shared the university’s achievements and future plans, while Dean of Student Welfare Rajesh Kumar delivered the welcome address. Registrar Shashipal Negi proposed the vote of thanks. Distinguished guests, including MLA and former minister Anil Sharma and Mayor Virender Bhatt Sharma, attended the event.
