Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil today chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee to review issues related to the expansion of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College (Dr. YSPGMC), Nahan. Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, members of the sub-committee, were also present.
During the meeting, Dr. Shandil informed that the construction of Dr. YSPGMC, Nahan, was approved in 2018 with an administrative approval of Rs. 260.70 crore. However, the construction work was halted in June 2022 due to disputes between the construction agency and the executive firm, by which time only about 7 percent physical progress had been achieved.
The Cabinet Sub-Committee deliberated in detail on the issues affecting the project and discussed the future course of action to streamline and resume construction of the medical college. The committee directed the concerned officers to place detailed facts related to the arbitration proceedings and the steps taken so far by the executive agency before it for further examination.
Special Secretary (Health) Ashwani Sharma, Secretary (Health) Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Commissioner Sirmaur Priyanka Verma, and other senior officers attended the meeting.
