Heritage Ridge Ground in Shimla Sold Out for Commercial Use, Breaching Sanctity

Agreement Allows Commercial Activities: Shimla Municipal Corporation and Shimla District Administration permit business use of heritage Ridge Ground and Mall Road, breaching sanctity.

Allotment to Prince Trading Company: Agreement inked between administration and M/s. Prince Trading Company for various activities at different locations, including Padam Dev Commercial Complex, Ice Skating Rink, and Mall Road.

Financial Terms: The allotted rate of Rs 40,81,181 (Rupees Forty-One Lakh Eighty-Three Lakh) including GST, with an advance payment of Rs 16,73,284 (Rupees Sixteen Lakhs Seventy-Three Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Four).

Violation of Regulations: Despite provisions to comply with laws and COVID-19 guidelines, the administration fails to enforce them, leading to the deterioration of the heritage sites.

Negative Impact on Local Businesses: Allotment of public spaces to outside businessmen creates losses for local businesses in Shimla.

Sanitation Issues and Disrespectful Behavior: Garbage piles and vendors litter the Ridge ground, while tourists from outside states dry their clothes openly. Disrespectful behavior towards statues of leaders like Indira Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
