Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today said the state government is focused on accelerating development across Himachal Pradesh, with special emphasis on roads, infrastructure, and urban facilities. Improving connectivity in remote, hilly, and tribal areas remains a key priority.
The Minister highlighted recent discussions with Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Manohar Lal Khattar, which yielded positive responses for state proposals. Development projects worth around Rs. 600 crore have been submitted to the Centre, with Rs. 366 crore already approved under the Special Assistance Scheme for Capital Investment to States 2025-26.
Key urban projects include the Rs. 140 crore redevelopment of Shimla’s vegetable market with modern facilities, Rs. 80 crore for Hamirpur’s old HRTC bus stand into a city centre, and Rs. 20 crore for Dharamshala Municipal Corporation under the Neighbourhood Improvement Plan. These initiatives aim to strengthen infrastructure and boost economic activity.
On rural development, Singh said that about 1,500 km of roads will be built under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana at a cost of Rs. 2,300 crore, with work starting from April 15. He urged public cooperation in providing land, assuring that quality standards will be strictly enforced and contractors violating them will face stringent action.
The Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to development with transparency, quality, and timely execution.
