Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s achievements in green transport and digital reforms while chairing the fifth meeting of the State Transport Development and Road Safety Council. He said the state generated Rs. 2,597.59 crore revenue between January 2023 and December 2025, a 73% increase from the previous government, thanks to digital initiatives and stronger enforcement.
Himachal’s inclusion in NITI Aayog’s India Electric Mobility Index reflects the government’s focus on sustainable transport. To modernize vehicle fitness, Automated Testing Stations (ATS) are being established across government and private sectors, complemented by the launch of the m-Fitness App for digital, GPS-based inspections and auto-approval of permits and licenses.
To promote green mobility, subsidies of 40% for e-taxis and up to 30% for buses on 390 new routes are being provided. The E-Taxi Scheme under the Rajiv Gandhi Self Employment Scheme has already supported 96 beneficiaries with Rs. 6.94 crore. Additionally, EV charging stations are operational at 30 locations, with 129 sites identified statewide.
Agnihotri also emphasized road safety and employment generation: road accidents have dropped 10%, deaths by 9%, and serious injuries by 6%, while 1,061 new bus routes and over 39,000 taxi/maxi permits have created jobs for thousands of youth.
