Himachal Pradesh is emerging as a hub of advanced medical care with major investments in healthcare infrastructure, technology and manpower, said Chief Minister’s Principal Advisor (Media) Naresh Chauhan.
He said the state government is developing 70 health institutions as Adarsh Swasthya Sansthans to provide specialist and diagnostic services closer to people. Himachal has also become the first state in India to introduce robotic surgery in the government sector.
The government is investing nearly Rs. 3,000 crore to upgrade hospitals with advanced facilities, including MRI, PET Scan, CT Scan and modern cancer care systems. Healthcare projects worth Rs. 1,710 crore are being implemented with JICA support, with further expansion planned.
Chauhan said 2,432 appointments have been made in government medical colleges in the last three and a half years, including doctors, specialists, nurses and paramedical staff. The state is also expanding postgraduate medical seats from 277 to 597 to address the shortage of specialists.
He added that reforms are underway in HimCare and Ayushman Bharat schemes to ensure transparent and timely claim settlements, with Rs. 212 crore released for pending medical reimbursements.
The government aims to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem and ensure quality, affordable medical services reach every doorstep in Himachal Pradesh.
