Himachal Maintains Education, Health Budgets

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government will continue full funding for education and health sectors despite financial challenges, stressing that both remain top priorities.

Speaking at a conference on higher education reforms, he announced the opening of new specialized colleges and the recruitment of 800 teaching staff. He also directed colleges to introduce modern courses and language programs to improve students’ job prospects.

The Chief Minister highlighted ongoing education reforms, including better-performing CBSE schools with rising enrollment, and assured that teacher vacancies will be filled soon. In the health sector, he pointed to the installation of advanced MRI machines and progress in robotic surgeries.

He also mentioned that ₹1,600 crore in central financial aid was withheld due to the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme but defended the decision as necessary to ensure social security for government employees.

Additionally, the government introduced a college ranking system, with top-performing institutions receiving recognition and financial incentives.
