Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme-2023 for EV Adoption (Himachal Pradesh Government)
To encourage the adoption of EVs, the state government has approved the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme-2023. Under this scheme, a uniform 50 percent subsidy will be provided for the purchase of e-taxis, e-buses, and e-trucks. This initiative aims to provide self-employment opportunities for local youth while enabling government departments to hire electric vehicle service providers.
Transitioning Government Vehicles to EVs and Creating an EV Ecosystem
The Chief Minister directed the transport department to organize a meeting with stakeholders within the next 10 days. The government plans to gradually transition all government vehicles to EVs and create a robust electric vehicle ecosystem. By embracing electric mobility, Himachal Pradesh aims to lead the way in green energy, contribute to a cleaner environment, and reduce carbon emissions.
