Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Championship 2024 to be Held in Bilaspur

In the meeting of Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics held in Bilaspur, the state-level Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Championship 2024 was determined to be hosted at the Luhnu synthetic track. Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics President Ripudaman Kaushik said that the winner of this championship will lead Himachal in the 45th National Masters Athletics Championship in February 2025.

This championship is being organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. In this two-day competition, players will show their strength in 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 5000 meter races, apart from Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot-put, Discus and Javelin throw etc. Suresh Nadda said that the main attraction of this year’s competition will be the All India Open Cross Country, which will be organized in Bilaspur on the morning of 9 November. Players from any state of the country can participate in this cross country.

Competitors can participate in a total of 6 age groups, namely Junior (12-18), Senior (19-30) and Masters (31-42, 43-55, 56-65, 65+). The booking of the stadium and other permissions for the competition have been received from the department. We are preparing for a successful event. The newly elected President of State Masters Athletics, Rajkumar Rana, said that a three-member committee has been formed for organizing the state level championship. Suresh Nadda, Ranjit Singh Chanana and Nitin Dogra will look after the arrangements of the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition. Players can register online from 1st October.

Brij Lal Thakur, Ashwini Sharma and Dwarika Thakur will look after the arrangements of the sports committee. Vijay Kumar has been given the responsibility of the technical and protest committee. Pawan Verma and Sanjay Saklani have been appointed for media and publicity. Dr. Sushil Sharma will provide health services and first-aid. Kalpana Parmar and Champa Thakur will look after the arrangements of women’s competitions. The in-charge of registration and entry will be treasurer Somesh Sharma and Swastik.

In Himachal, a unique effort has been made to honor the national sports hockey. According to General Secretary Ripudaman Kaushik, an exciting competition is being held to promote women’s hockey in India. A platform is being given to the female athletes in the state who have supported Hockey Himachal through this competition. Women masters players will showcase their strength and talent in this unique match. We are thankful to Hockey Club President Ms. Sheela Kaushal ji who has accepted the request of Masters Athletics Himachal. The 13–25 August 2024 World Masters Athletic Championship was held in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Three Himachali athletes were selected for the World Championship in this tournament for the first time, and all three have returned after putting on their best shows. Ashwini Sharma, Surinder Singh Dehal, and Dwarika Thakur were given special recognition during the meeting, according to General Secretary Ripudaman Kaushik. The stature of Himachal Pradesh has grown internationally thanks to these players.

Participants in the Himachal Pradesh Masters Athletics Competition may be athletes from any district in the state. We are the only recognized federation in the state offering facilities to masters athletes of Himachal Pradesh. This allows athletes from all around the state to showcase their skills on a national and international stage.
