In an effort to establish Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) as a model educational institution in the country, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla presided over the 34th meeting of the HPU Court. During the meeting, various crucial issues, including the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff, were discussed and resolved. Governor Shukla emphasized the importance of holding court meetings at least twice a year to swiftly address the university’s challenges and needs, fostering its overall development and enhancement.
Congratulating HPU for receiving an A-grade rating from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Governor Shukla acknowledged the collective effort that led to this success. However, he stressed the necessity for continued hard work to elevate the university to the status of renowned educational institutions in the nation. He emphasized the need to raise the academic and research standards across all educational institutions in the state.
Governor Shukla highlighted the responsibility of teachers in shaping the youth not only as degree holders but also as individuals equipped to tackle contemporary challenges, including issues like unemployment. The academic and research activities should empower today’s students to address future challenges effectively.
Himachal Pradesh University Achieves A-Grade Accreditation
Furthermore, the recent natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh, resulting from excessive rains, served as a stark reminder of the importance of environmental consciousness. Governor Shukla stressed the need for timely and effective action by all sections of society to combat issues such as drug abuse, pollution, and environmental hazards in the state.
During the meeting, Suresh Kumar, MLA from Bhoranj in Hamirpur district, was nominated as a member of the Executive Council of HPU. The attendees paid tribute to the victims of the disaster that struck Himachal Pradesh University and various locations in the state. The Vice Chancellor, Acharya Satprakash Bansal, presented the university’s annual report for the year 2020-21 to the Governor. Dr. Virendra Sharma, Registrar of HPU, expressed gratitude in a vote of thanks.
The meeting also saw the presence of MLAs Suresh Kumar and Harish Janartha, Vice Chancellors of Jaypee University and Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, as well as other dignitaries and members of the University Court.
