The Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has served a show cause notice to the Principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Dhalli, Shimla, for alleged negligence and failure to follow government directives.

The notice relates to the electricity disconnection at Government Primary School, Dhalli, part of the same cluster, which has been without power since 27 January 2026 due to unpaid bills. Despite having nearly ₹15 lakh in school funds and explicit instructions allowing Principals to use unspent funds for essential services, the Principal did not take action to restore electricity.

Government orders issued on 15 December 2025 had authorized the use of accumulated funds to ensure that cluster schools maintain basic amenities. The inaction led to prolonged disruption of facilities for students, prompting strict action from the Directorate.

The Principal has been asked to submit a written explanation and appear in person on 23 March 2026. Failure to comply may lead to disciplinary measures being taken without further notice.

The Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring all students have access to basic facilities and stressed that accountability at all levels will be strictly enforced.
