In a major step toward boosting overseas employment for the youth, CM Sukhu has directed the Labour and Employment Department to develop a dedicated website and mobile app. This digital platform will streamline data collection of job aspirants, ensure transparency, and offer safe, accessible pathways to international employment.

Highlighting the state’s commitment, the CM said, “Youth of Himachal Pradesh are hardworking, honest, and capable. We are committed to helping them secure well-paying jobs abroad while protecting them from exploitation.”

He further shared that the Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC) has received a license as a registered recruitment agency. HPSEDC will collaborate with certified training institutes to align youth skillsets with global job market demands.

Each year, around 10,000 youth from the state seek employment abroad, and another 5,000 pursue higher education. In FY 2023–24, Himachalis working overseas remitted Rs. 2,030 crore, contributing 0.2% to national remittances—an impressive figure given the state’s population.

There is high demand for skilled professionals such as nurses, healthcare workers, drivers, electricians, and technicians abroad. The CM said HPSEDC will actively facilitate placements in these fields.

To guide youth towards safe migration, the government will launch awareness campaigns promoting registered recruitment channels. The CM also directed a study of Kerala and Telangana’s overseas employment models to design a tailored strategy for Himachal Pradesh. Kerala leads the nation with 57.94 per 1,000 working abroad, while Himachal stands at 5.36 per 1,000.

Additionally, the state will build a comprehensive database of Himachali NRIs to strengthen engagement and support.

The announcement was made in the presence of ministers, advisors, and senior officials from both state and central agencies.
