CM Sukhu today inaugurated the historic three-day Shoolini Fair in Solan, a vibrant and centuries-old celebration of devotion centered around Goddess Shoolini. The event, held at the state level, witnessed a massive turnout of devotees and visitors, marking one of the most revered cultural-religious gatherings in the region.
The fair commemorates the symbolic annual journey of Goddess Shoolini to visit her elder sister Goddess Durga at Ganj Bazaar. The highlight of the event was the grand palanquin procession (Shobha Yatra) of the deity through the streets of Solan, which drew thousands of devotees who came to offer prayers and seek blessings.
CM Sukhu actively participated in the celebrations by offering prayers and shouldering the palanquin in a symbolic show of devotion and community unity. He also showered flower petals on the deity’s palanquin, embracing the spiritual significance of the occasion. On this occasion, the Chief Minister released a souvenir published by the Mela Committee to commemorate the event.
Deputy Commissioner and Mela Committee Chairperson Manmohan Sharma welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister during the opening ceremony.
Several dignitaries joined the inaugural festivities, including Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil, along with cooperative bank chairpersons, local leaders, and senior officials.
The Shoolini Fair continues to be a cherished tradition, blending faith, heritage, and community spirit in the heart of Solan.
